Asheboro, N.C., January 28, 2021 - The North Carolina Zoo's conservation work goes far beyond the Zoo's 2,600 acres of land in North Carolina. The Zoo's UNITE for the Environment program worked with teachers in Uganda, a small country located in east Africa.

They’re wild, fearless hunters that kill venomous snakes in the desert. They’re also a rare sight to see, which is why the North Carolina Zoo is excited to announce the birth of a sand cat on Monday, Aug. 10.
