Sum of the Parts celebrates the diversity of life on earth. The seventeen cubes in Sum of the Parts are reminiscent of a child’s colorful alphabet blocks, but three are slightly removed from the rest. Two of the blocks that are removed represent endangered species and the third symbolizes species that are already extinct.

The endangered cubes include elements like the venus flytrap, the rainforest, sea turtles, and drinking water. The extinct cube includes dinosaurs, the saber-tooth cat, and the ivory-billed woodpecker*.

Sum of the Parts is made from stainless steel, bronze, copper, brass, and mild steel.

*The classification of the ivory-billed woodpecker is under debate.
