William Rankin

In this piece the artist depicts a cheetah, nature’s fastest land mammal, motionless on a rock overlooking an African savanna.  He describes the sculpture as a metaphor for "the condition that we find ourselves in today—as the cheetah is endangered through habitat loss and over specialization—we too are at risk for these and other reasons of our own making".  Mbashiri, in Swahili, means prophet or fortune teller. The sculpture by William Rankin is made out of bronze with a striking gold patina.
