The Elephant Tracking Game is an interactive installation where visitors learn about elephants while having fun with this large-scale “board” game. Players divide into two groups that mimic the social structure of elephants – women with young boys and girls and men with teenage boys. Each group follows a trail to the water hole, collecting rewards and avoiding dangers along the way.

The Elephant Tracking Game was created by Diane Villa and Steve Runnfeldt, a retired Zoo Exhibit Designer and Curator of Design of the North Carolina Zoo.

Sponsored by Bob and Bonnie Meeker
The Elephant Tracking Game is located within the Watani Grasslands Region of Africa.
A vibrant outdoor board game with colorful pathways and large brown game pieces shaped like Elephants on a paved circular area. Several children and adults are gathered around and on the game, with lush green trees and foliage in the background, suggesting a park or zoo setting.
