Catamount is another name for a mountain lion, panther, puma, or cougar — a large, long-tailed, unspotted, tawny colored cat. The eastern cougar was known to have lived in North Carolina and twenty other eastern states from Maine to South Carolina and from Tennessee to Michigan.

The Catamount sculpture is made from bronze and is installed atop a natural boulder.
