Giraffe Deck Volunteers

Volunteers share in the joy of guests having a rare, up-close animal encounter with a giraffe with the opportunity to feed giraffes Volunteers assist guests with feeding experiences, prepare and distribute browse, queue guests, and support staff as requested.  

 

Time Commitments

Volunteers should be available to commit to two shifts each month on a recurring schedule of the same day every other week. (For example, every other Friday). 

Available Shifts: March - November, 7 days a week, 10:00 a.m.—2:00 p.m. 

 

 

Training

Training includes printed materials, videos, and on the job training. 

Age requirement

Minimum age requirement is 16 years old

 

Onboarding Timeline to Attend February Orientation

We are excited for you to join our volunteer team in February! To ensure a smooth start, all steps below must be completed as scheduled.

  • Deadline to submit form: February 11

2. Information Session. Hosted Virtually.

  • February 18, 19, 20, OR 21 (You will choose ONE date to attend)

3. Orientation. Conducted Virtually.

  • February 28 | 2:00 p.m.—3:30 p.m.
  • Must complete step 2 to receive the Zoom link to attend

4. Onsite Zoo Visit 

  • March 7, 10, OR 11 | 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. (You will choose ONE date to attend)
  • Must complete step 3 to attend

5. Review online training materials

6. Begin volunteer shifts at the Zoo!

If you aren’t available complete any of the steps listed above, please check back starting FEBRUARY 12 to review the onboarding timeline to begin your adventure with us in MARCH. If your availability aligns, please submit a Volunteer Interest Form at that time. We can’t wait to see you!
