Group Offerings

Opportunities

Some people say their workplace is a zoo, but ours really is! Seasonal opportunities are organized for businesses, organizations, and service groups to volunteer together to make a difference in just a day. Groups often assist with projects such as hiking trail maintenance, mulching, papier mache, animal enrichment projects, cleaning signage, painting, and special events.

Project Requirements

Group sizes vary by project, ranging from 3 to 25 participants. Each project has a minimum and maximum number of volunteers needed, so group capacity will depend on the specific project you select.
Projects take place Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., September through June.
Opportunities are scheduled based on availability and are open to high school students through adults.

Animal Care Volunteer

Volunteers provide routine daily care for injured, sick, and orphaned native wildlife until they are ready for release back into the wild.

Conservation & Education

Volunteers support the work of the Zoo's conservation and education team by engaging with guests and increasing awareness of conservation issues.

Guest Services

Volunteers are front-line members of the Guest Services Team helping facilitate personalized and memorable guest experiences.

Horticulture

Gardeners help with weeding and potting plants in the greenhouse and may also assist staff with the upkeep of Zoo grounds, Pollinator Gardens, and similar activities.

Research

Volunteers provide insight into scientific research, animal behavior, and support the Zoo’s mission to improve animal welfare.

Teens

Volunteers facilitate play at Kidzone, a nature-based play area geared toward guests ages 3-10 years old. Kidzone is a place where children and their parents can play, explore, and interact with nature in a fun, safe environment.
