From critically endangered vultures and gorillas in Africa to rare native plants and amphibians in our state, the North Carolina Zoo has been a leader in wildlife conservation for more than two decades.

Just a reminder… this is the world’s largest natural habitat zoo. It's a really big place! With roughly five miles of walking trails to navigate, make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a refillable water bottle. Animals are visible primarily from the walking paths.
Tram Service is available daily between the North America Entrance, Junction Plaza (the center of the Zoo), and Africa Entrance. Parking Lot shuttles with transportation between the North America and Africa parking lots are available April - October starting at 11 am daily.

On occasion, the Zoo, or production companies authorized by the Zoo, will photograph or video guests at the Zoo for educational or promotional use or use in programming about the Zoo. Guest entry into the Zoo grants the Zoo and authorized production companies permission to use these images for these uses throughout the world in all media in perpetuity.
