This event is included with Zoo admission. Event activities run from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The North Carolina Zoo is actively involved in conservation programs positively impacting many species in North and Central America. Come Share the Love for some of our North American residents and discover what we do in the wild and what you can do to help in your own backyard. Event activities run from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Conservation and Education Station Activities:

    • KidZone: Salamanders - Come learn about native salamanders and how the NC Zoo is helping preserve to habitats. 

    • Rocky Coast: Polar Bear Station - Did you know that the NC Zoo partners with Polar Bears International (PBI) to study and protect polar bears living in the wild? Come learn about polar bear Yuri and how polar bears are monitored where they live.

    • Streamside: Hellbender - The NC Zoo is actively involved in habitat restoration and species protection of the giant Hellbender salamander. Come learn more and see if you can spot the Hellbender in the Streamside habitat! 

    • Red Wolf: The NC Zoo is working to save wild red wolves, a critically endangered species. Come learn what we are doing and what you can do to help!               
   
    • Desert: Ocelot - Get spotted at the NC Zoo's Ocelot habitat, where you can learn more about groups that are helping protect their habitats in the wild. 

    • Blues Music: Abe Reid, a famed NC Blues Musician will greet visitors as they enter the North America Plaza

Keeper Talks and Animal Enrichment Schedule:

10:00 a.m.       Cougar Paper Mache Prey - Watch our cougars display their predatory skills!
10:30 a.m.       Alligator Feeding and Keeper Talk
                         Red Wolf Whole Prey Feeding and Keeper Talk - Observe the Red Wolves with whole prey and learn how the NC Zoo is                                 helping them in the wild!
11:30 a.m.       Polar Bear ice treat Enrichment and Keeper Talks
12:00 p.m.       Black Bear ice treat Enrichment and Keeper Talks
                         Being Cool in Bear Country means staying safe and keeping the bears safe too, come learn more about back country safety!
