NC Zoo Birthday Party FAQ
I am a zoo member. Can I use my guest passes for some of the adults?
No. You receive a 15% discount. Other than that, all adults and children must be included in the count.
Is the birthday child included in the total count?
Yes.
Many of my guests have memberships. Do I have to include them in the count?
Yes.
Can I bring additional food?
Yes. Keep in mind the room is yours for an hour and a half. If you are interested in offering lunch, it might be worth taking advantage of one of the picnic areas. Bringing lunch to the party is still an option, but include intentions on your registration form.
Can I bring additional decorations?
Yes. Helium balloons are NOT allowed. We provide balloons for bouncing, kicking, throwing, etc., but they must stay in the birthday room. This is for the safety of our wildlife. Any additional decorations must be put up during the allocated time slot. Additional time is not available.
Can I have the party for more than one child?
Yes. There is no additional fee if you would like to have the party for more than one person. In order to proceed with this option, you will need to contact the reservationists after looking at the calendar availability (online June 1, call 336-879-7715 before June 1). The small zoo gift is valued at $10. We provide two small gifts at $5 each for parties with two children. If you would like this handled differently, please specify with the reservationist.
Can you give me more details about what happens at the party?
Yes. Here is a rough agenda, keeping in mind that every group is a little different:
Free play and activities, approx 20 minutes (ex. balloons, hula hoops, ring toss, and corn hole are a few of the free play opportunities; there are also puzzles, crayons, and magnet boards)
Education program, approx 20 minutes
Birthday host-led game, approx 10 minutes
Live animal program, approx 10 minutes
Cake and ice cream, approx 10 minutes
Time for presents (parent-led), approx 20 minutes
