Celebrating 40 Wild Years!
The North Carolina Zoo is celebrating our 40th Anniversary this year! The festivities begin on March 29th with a Grand Celebration weekend featuring live music, puppet parades and educational activites. Bring the kids out for the reopening of the completely remodeled kidzone exhibit, a play-and-learn area designed to bring joy, exploration and discovery to kids young and old.
As part of the 40th Anniversary, the Zoo is opening a special exhibit on bugs, those unusual creatures that make up a whopping 96% of all animal life on earth. In this walk-through exhibit, come eye-to-antenna with giant animatronic bugs ranging from the exotic Devil's Flower Mantis to a truly enormous 30 foot long Mexican Redknee Tarantula! Walk inside the live bug encounter dome and see a sampling of invertebrates from around the world.
Next, take a flight of fancy in the new 4-D theatre with RIO. This charming story follows the antics of two blue macaws as they find courage, friendship and love.
Whether you are visting for the first time or the 40th, the North Carolina Zoo offers an EPIC adventure for your wild crew.
