Zoo-to-You Program List

Audience

Program Description

K-1st Grade

Animal Wrappers
Using their senses, students will explore various animal coverings, learn why they are important and begin to see why animals should definitely not wear clothing.

 

K-2nd Grade

The Three Bears
This program introduces your students to the “Three Bears” of North America. We will investigate some of the “bear” essentials for these animals and their habitats.

 

2nd -8th Grade

Recycle with Worms
Worms offer an environmentally sound solution to solid waste problems. Students discover ways to turn kitchen scraps and old newspapers into valuable soil for growing flowers and vegetables. For an additional $10 your students can cooperatively make a worm bin for your classroom.


2nd -8th Grade

People and the Planet
Within nature, all things are connected! Students gain an awareness of how human population growth affects the Earth’s resources and what they can do to help.


7th Grade

Australia - The Wonder Down Under
This program will help students discover the wonder down under, as they learn about the unique animals and diverse culture of this island continent.


9th -12th Grade

Biodiesel 101
This program allows your students to take a look at biodiesel as an alternative fuel. Depending on your class, the program will take a chemistry or environmental science perspective.

Cost

$65 for each 1-hour session (30 students max) $40 for each additional same day, same school session (30 students max). For locations outside a 25 mile radius of the N.C. Zoo, an additional charge of $.34 per mile/round trip will be added.

For an additional $10, your program can include a live animal presentation with an education animal from our Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

Scheduling a Program

Zoo educators bring these programs into the classroom September - May (up to four programs per day can be scheduled at one school). To schedule a "Zoo-to-You" select a program from the list and call 336.879.7715.
