Improving and expanding classroom skills is a lifelong process for teachers. Zoo workshops will provide educators with resources, materials and strategies to improve their ability to facilitate inquiry-based investigations. Through exploration of current environmental issues, teachers can empower students to consider global perspectives in making choices regarding the management of the Earth’s finite natural resources.
Project Learning Tree is an interdisciplinary environmental education program designed for educators of ANY background. PLT uses the forest as a window into natural and built environments to help people gain awareness and knowledge about the world around them. Topics such as communication, economics, energy and fuels, geology, government, history, recycling, transportation, watersheds and wildlife are a part of the curriculum! These themes are integrated within science, language arts, social studies, art, music and physical education. K-5 teachers are invited to join us and will receive great classroom materials that are correlated to the NC SCOS, network with other educators, earn CEU renewal credits, learn about our natural resources, and have a great time… all for free! Contact Ana Floyd at 336-318-6028 or afloyd@randolph.k12.nc.us to register for the PLT workshop. Lunch will be provided by Carolina Farm Credit.
Participation is limited – registration deadline is June 1, 2007.
