Zoo To You
Outreach Programs
When you can’t come to the Zoo, let NC Zoo come to you. The NC Zoo education staff has an outreach program that meets the needs of your school group.
The following Outreach Programs are available:
- Classroom Zoo To You EDventures: This education program is designed for groups of less than 40 students. These programs are designed to stimulate curiosity about animals and the habitats, and encourage respect for the natural world.
- Assembly Zoo To You EDventures: This education program is designed for groups of 40 or more. Meet some of our education ambassadors and learn about the importance of wildlife not just in the world, but in our own backyards.
- Zoonits: These interactive and engaging programs are designed for the classroom. Each program is developed to meet specific grade-level curriculum and provides teachers with supporting activities for the classroom.
SCHEDULING A PROGRAM...
Zoo to You Programs are offered from September - May, subject to availability. Up to four programs per day can be scheduled at one location. The NC Zoo requires a minimum of three weeks notice for any Zoo to You programs.
Program prices vary, so please check specific program information for pricing. This program will travel to schools located up to 100 miles from the Zoo. For locations outside a 25 mile radius of the N.C. Zoo, an additional charge of $.45 per mile, round trip will be added. Full payment is required a minimum of one week prior to the scheduled program date.
LIVE ANIMAL PRESENTATIONS...
The animal ambassadors used in Zoo education programs are residents at the Valerie Schindler Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. These animals are
native North Carolina wildlife and are for one reason or another, not able to be released back into the wild.
