Forest Glade
The NC Zoo has Western lowland gorillas at the Forest Glade exhibit- one silverback male and two females. Come face-to-face with these great apes at two viewing windows at this popular exhibit.
Western Lowland Gorilla
The Western lowland gorilla weighs about 400 pounds. Gorillas are the largest of the living primates. This docile great ape inhabits tropical African forests rich in low-growing vegetation. Gorilla troops in the 
wild consist of at least one silverback male, mature females and several juveniles. Troops are well-defined and dominance fights are rare. Silverbacks display and charge to chase away intruders. This intimidating display is usually a bluff, and the gorilla typically veers in another direction before reaching their target.
