N.C. Zoo is an agency of the State of North Carolina within the Department of Environment and Natural Resources
N.C. Zoo is the first Zoo in the U.S. to be certified under ISO 14001 standard.
N.C. Zoo is a member institution of the Association of Zoos & Aquariums and it's staff are members in the American Association of Zoo Keepers. The local chapter of AAZK was established in 1987
