Zoo Sets Good-Friday Attendance Mark
BY: Tom GillespieApr. 05, 2010
ASHEBORO—Spurred by nearly perfect weather and seasonal attraction re-openings, the North Carolina Zoo set a best-ever Good-Friday attendance mark during the Easter weekend.
Additionally, the park had the second-best attendance ever for the three-day Easter weekend, less than 200 visitors short of the record 29,256 set in 1995.
According to Public Relations Manager Rod Hackney, Saturday’s attendance was likely fueled by the idyllic weather, an economic situation in which people are staying closer to home and the first break in what has been described as an unseasonably cold winter.
The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Dee A. Freeman, Secretary; Beverly E. Perdue, Governor.
