The North Carolina Zoo will hold the third of four June weekend celebrations of bears—and bees--Saturday, June 19, and Sunday, June 20, in the park, when guests can explore life as a bear, catch the buzz on bees and help dad celebrate Father’s Day.

On Saturday, June 19, “Black Bears & Bees” will again feature keeper talks and educational displays at both the black bear exhibit and at the Honey Bee Garden exhibit. Additionally, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., kids can take part in the “Build a Den” activity at “kidZone,” as part of the zoo’s Family Fun Days.

Sunday, June 20, the zoo celebrates dads on Father’s Day by offering all papa bears discounted admission with online coupons found on the zoo’s website.

Bear month will wrap up with the Teddy Bear Fair on Saturday, June 26, when visitors can bring their teddy bears for a check-up with zoo veterinarians.

Additionally, visitors can view the new Lemur Island exhibit, featuring both ring-tailed and red-ruffed lemurs, in the Africa Region.

Visitors can get more information on all the June weekend activities at the zoo website: http://www.nczoo.org/. The weekly June events are being made possible through signature sponsor Coca-Cola.

The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Dee Freeman, Secretary; Beverly E. Perdue, Governor.
