BY: Tom GillespieOct. 21, 2008
ASHEBORO, N.C.--The North Carolina Zoo concludes its month-long
ZooFest 2008 on Oct. 25 & 26 with Boo at the Zoo, its annual daytime Halloween celebration for kids of all ages.
On both Saturday and Sunday, the zoo will come alive with two magical days of family entertainment featuring games, treats, costume parades and costume contests each day. The two-day activity runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day.
All children are encouraged to wear their Halloween best. Judges will award prizes each day in three age categories for best costumes: infant through age 3, ages 4-7 and ages 8-12. Costume-parade registration begins at 1 p.m. both days. The contest begins at 2 p.m. at the Africa Amphitheater.
All the weekend fun is included in the regular zoo admission of $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (62+) and $6 for children (ages 2-12).
ZooFest and all 2008 zoo special events are made possible, in part, through sponsorship by Pepsi. This weekend’s event is additionally made possible through the work of volunteers from Pfeiffer University, the Univ. of North Carolina-Greensboro Bio Club and Beholdance youth organization and through educational card games from Top Trumps.
The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Dept. of Environment & Natural Resources, William G. Ross Jr., Secretary; Michael F. Easley, Governor.
