BY: Mike McClanahanSep. 05, 2008
ASHEBORO, N.C.—The North Carolina Zoo Society today announces that tickets to the 25th Annual Randolph Telephone Zoo To Do have sold out and that more than 1,000 people are expected to attend the gala event Sept. 6. Organized by Randolph Friends of the Zoo and the Zoo Society, Zoo To Do will feature live and silent auctions, fine cuisine and live entertainment.
Zoo To Do organizers have provided covered space for the event this year in response to weather forecasts. Any necessary updates related to Zoo To Do will be posted on the Zoo Society web site, www.nczoo.com.
Funds from the event will go to Project: Pachyderms, the Zoo Society’s campaign to support the new Watani Grasslands Reserve. The facility, which opened this year, features larger elephant and rhino herds, improved off-exhibit holding areas, educational exhibits and a visitor experience that includes an up-close, almost eye-to-eye view of the largest land animals on the planet. More than $7.2 million has been raised toward a $7.5 million goal for Project: Pachyderms.
The North Carolina Zoological Society is a private, non-profit organization that supports the North Carolina Zoo and conservation. The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment & Natural Resources, William G. Ross Jr., Secretary; Michael F. Easley, Governor.
