NICKELODEON'S SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS FEATURED IN NC ZOO'S 4D THEATER

May. 01, 2008

ASHEBORO, N.C.—"Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?"
One of the most popular cartoon characters ever created, the absorbent, yellow and porous hero of Bikini Bottom is now being featured at the North Carolina Zoo’s SimEx theater in a new, 4D feature formatted for the motion-ride simulator. The star of Nickelodeon’s hit kids’ program comes to life on the Simex screen, and zoo patrons both young and old can watch SpongeBob in pursuit of a runaway pickle as he aims  to serve the perfect Krabby Patty hamburger. The hilarious adventure takes SpongeBob through Bikini Bottom in pursuit of a robotic double of his best friend "Patrick."

One of the zoo’s most popular attractions since 2002, SimEx is a mobile ride-simulation theater equipped with six, three-seat motion bases. Highly sophisticated, computer-controlled hydraulics move the entire 18-member audience in synchronization with the actions on the screen. With the addition of 4D effects, SimEx not only allows the audience to see the action in three dimensions, but also gets them involved personally by sending bubbles, harmless water sprays and other special effects onto the gallery.

The SpongeBob SquarePants 4D experience will cost zoo visitors $3 in addition to regular admission.  Special combination tickets are also available. For more information on SpongeBob SquarePants 4D or other zoo attractions and events, visit the park’s Web site at www.nczoo.org or call 1-800-488-0444.
