N.C. ZOO HOLDS 'CREATURE COMFORTS' EVENT

ASHEBORO, N.C.—The North Carolina Zoo will conclude “Zoo Fling,” an April-long, weekly celebration of spring, this Saturday, April 26, with a program called Creature Comforts.
Creature Comforts offers opportunities for the entire family to meet zoo keepers and learn about animal enrichment, diets and wild creature lifestyles while enjoying educational fun throughout the zoo. Special programs this year will also focus on amphibians as the N.C. Zoo joins other zoos around the country in celebrating the “Year of the Frog” to bring public attention to the alarming decline in amphibian populations worldwide.
Activities will take place from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and are free with paid zoo admission during normal park hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors can meet and talk to keepers at the following times and exhibits: otters at Streamside, 10 a.m.; frogs at Cypress Swamp, 10 a.m.; cougars at Cypress Swamp, 11 a.m.; frogs at Cypress Swamp, 1 p.m.; puffins at Rocky Coast, 1:30 p.m.; tropical birds at Aviary, 1:30 p.m.; chimpanzees at Kitera Forest, 1:30 p.m.; and mammals at Sonora Desert, 3 p.m.
A schedule of all the events, locations and times will be posted on signs inside the zoo and are also listed on the zoo’s Web site at www.nczoo.org.
The zoo is located on Zoo Parkway (N.C. 159) six miles southeast of Asheboro off U.S. 64 and U.S. 220. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and college students, and $6 for children 2-12.
