Zoo's African Pavilion Closes for Renovations

BY: Rod Hackney
Feb. 02, 2007

ASHEBORO, N.C.— The indoor African Pavilion exhibit at the North Carolina Zoo will be closed for three days from Monday, Feb. 5, through Wednesday, Feb. 7, for repairs and improvements inside the building.

During the three-day shutdown, Zoo Horticulture staff will prune trees adjacent to walkways and a contractor will repair the ceiling of the Pavilion’s upper entrance. This work cannot be accomplished while visitors are in the building.

All other animal exhibits in the Africa region, with the exception of the Elephant and Rhino Exhibits which are in the midst of long-term renovations, will remain open during the Pavilion improvement work, weather permitting.

The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment & Natural Resources, William G. Ross Jr., Secretary; Michael F. Easley, Governor.
