Scout Program

The Zoo is dedicated to helping Scout leaders provide meaningful Zoo experiences that promote an understanding of issues related to conservation. This program provides an opportunity to learn about the Zoo in an integrated way while earning a Zoo Scout Badge.

Unique in the quality of its natural habitat design, the N.C. Zoo can foster exciting educational experiences for Scouts that go well beyond naming species to interpreting behavior, understanding ecological relationships and promoting an awareness of the vital connections between humans and the environment.

The Zoo also encourages Scouts to organize community-based action projects on behalf of the environment. Please use the educational activities found in the Scout Badge Program, as well as other scavenger hunts, Animal Finder and activities found on this website, in a way that will enable troop members to have a more positive Zoo experience.

Remember: reduced admission is a reward for those Scout troops working on their Zoo Badge.
