Changes are in the works!
kidZone is closed for 2012. kidZone is receiving many updates including a new stream for play, rope bridges and trees! These and other changes will be taking place over the next few years, but we will definitely have the space ready for playing in the spring of 2013. playful PEDAGOGY
playful PEDAGOGY, part of the NC Zoo's Education Division, is an organization connecting children with nature through play. Programs such as kidZone and Nature Play Days get kids outside and engaged with the natural world. playful PEDAGOGY also provides playwork training (see below). With kidZone closed for 2011, playful PEDAGOGY is heading into the Greensboro community for outdoor play.
Nature Play Days
Nature Play Days are over for 2011. Thanks to all who came out to play. We had a blast! We invite you all to host Nature Play Days in your own community for 2012. Stay tuned for resources to help you coordinate and host a Nature Play Day close to home.
Play Matters
Protect the earth for tomorrow by playing in nature today!
kidZone is still part of the movement to reconnect children with nature. Kids don't spend nearly as much time outside now as their parents and especially their grandparents did when they were children. With the growing issues in our environment, a connection with the natural world is essential to preserving the wild places all the zoo animals represent. Our hope is that kids who connect with nature grow into adults who care for nature. So, be sure to get outside in your own backyard and enjoy the outdoors throughout the seasons...don't forget to dress appropriately!
